Presidential Award for Excellence
in Developing Entrepreneurial Skills
In February 1999, the Northeast
Entrepreneur Fund received a Presidential Microenterprise
Award for Excellence in Developing Entrepreneurial
Skills. The award was given in recognition of the
Northeast Entrepreneur Fund’s commitment to
developing and implementing impact measures for assessing
the performance of training-based programs, as well
as providing an effective and flexible model for delivering
skill development services to rural entrepreneurs.
The award was judged by national industry leaders
and presented by President Clinton to NEF President
Mary Mathews and Duluth, MN business owner Carol Willoughby,
one of the Northeast Entrepreneur Fund’s first
and most successful clients.
